The 30th Diamond Anniversary Gala benefiting the Adam’s County Five Star Education Foundation attracted some 250 guests dressed in their favorite western gear. The “Boots and Bling” party featured a hodge podge of western outfits and decor including custom-designed cowboy boots as center pieces that were available for the silent auction. Supporters enjoyed drinks, dinner, silent and live auctions Friday, February 27 at Broomfield’s Church Ranch Road Event Center.
Emcee and Standup Comic J. Marc described the Foundation’s mission and reminded guests of silent auction items. A 2nd generation Northglenn High School graduate, Marc can usually be found entertaining at Denver’s Comedy Club. Executive Director Mary Litwiler thanked guests for their support but urged that much more needs to be done as the district student population continues to grow. Foundation Board Chair David Bell joked that he cannot seem to step away from his leadership role. Later, live Auctioneer Gary Corbett kept everyone entertained and on their toes by instigating friendly bidding wars among guests.
A Special Tribute went to the late Lee Carlson–among the original founders of the Five Star Education Foundation–and thanks to the Carlson Family for their continued support. Among the Premier Sponsors were Adolfson & Peterson Construction, Scholar Dollars, Fiore & Sons, and Stifel.
Musical entertainment was provided by two dozen youngsters from the Mountain View Sign Language Choir which performed several older popular tunes and contemporary hits. Founded in 2008 by Peggy Reuss, Patty Mock, and Jenna Harris, this unique Choir learns nearly 1,000 words in sign language and helps to bridge the cultural gap between the deaf and hard-of-hearing population.
Foundation Board Members this year are: Chair David Bell, Lynn Archuleta, Clarke Carlson, Mark Clark, Andy Ellison, Larry “Butch” Fiore, Jr., Sandi Garcia, Chris Gdowski, Steve Gurr, Lori Goldstein, Brad Harvey, Glen Hendricks, Judi Madsen, Chad Mitchell, Tom Stone, Rob Webber, Paul Williams.
The Adams 12 Five Star Schools Education Foundation contributes to the improvement of the overall quality of life in the district for more than 38,000 students through investments in educational services and programs to assist our students in achieving their full potential.
